WORDS I LIVE BY
"He achieves success who lives well, laughs often, and loves much... who leaves the world better than he finds it... who always looks for the best in others and gives them the best he has."
-A Hallmark card from my grandmother
About me
I'm a born & raised New Englander with a bachelor's degree in business from Northeastern University in Boston. While there, I found a passion working with people, & spent my time outside of class working as an orientation leader, resident assistant, senior resident assistant, & tour guide.
I started my professional career during the Great Recession selling & servicing outdoor furniture orders for an online retailer, now known as Wayfair. I then moved back to my hometown in rural Western Massachusetts & found work in customer service in the property & casualty insurance industry at Liberty Mutual Insurance. I was quickly promoted to senior & specialist roles, and ultimately to people leadership. I later made a career change within the company & started working in information technology.
I now have an eight year background in business/systems analysis & two years of experience as a client-centric product management professional, now working for a group benefits insurance company. I have a proven ability to align business needs & technical capabilities to deliver high-quality digital software solutions. I'm a strong collaborator known for excellent written & verbal communication skills, & I'm a detail-oriented individual contributor with a record of producing timely, high quality outputs.
Outside of work, I'm active in local & state politics & care deeply about democracy and human rights. I am currently serving my second term as a city councilor for the City of Dover, New Hampshire. In my first term I successfully passed a resolution denouncing hatred and declaring our city a welcoming community after a hate-group was found recruiting in our city. I later passed a resolution reaffirming our commitment to the 1st Amendment & prohibiting the use of city resources for the purpose of banning books. I also made a motion that resulted in the passage of a fully funded public school budget. In my second term I passed a resolution to initiate the process for allowing "green" burials to take place in the city cemetery, & am working on resolutions to guarantee the city use native plant species in its landscaping practices, & to advance the use of renewable energy in city-owned properties.
I am a member of the Dover Democratic Committee where I served as treasurer & chair of the organization's finance & fundraising committee from 2021 - 2023, gaining valuable skills in budgeting, campaign finance reporting, & fundraising, successfully doubling donation revenue year over year. I now lead the organization as co-chair with responsibilities for co-developing & executing the strategic vision and goals, and leading the executive committee. I also serve as an active member of many of the organization's standing committees, including 'candidate recruitment & campaign,' 'finance & fundraising,' 'operations & technology,' & 'programs & events.' In April 2023, I was elected as the local committee chairperson to represent Strafford County on the New Hampshire Democratic Party's State Committee, ensuring local committees have a voice in state committee decisions. I also served on the executive board of the New Hampshire Stonewall Democrats, helping to recruit and elect LGBTQ+ Democrats, & advocating for legislation that protects & advances the rights of the LGBTQ+ community.
In January 2024, I was accepted into the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition's Next Gen Global Leaders Network Class of 2024. As part of this network of bipartisan leaders from across the country, I work to promote U.S. global leadership in the areas of diplomacy and development as a means for ensuring U.S. prosperity and national security. The program is geared at developing our skills in advocacy, communications, & the federal budgeting process.
Outside of politics, I serve on the board of directors for Community Action Partnership of Strafford County, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that assists community members in need with food, education, childcare, utilities, transportation, housing, emergency shelter, & access to other services. In my personal time, I enjoy hiking, running, learning languages, traveling & spending quality time with friends and family.
